Jasmin Paris, a 40-year-old veterinarian from Edinburgh, becomes the first woman to finish the Barkley Marathons.

The Barkley Marathons in Tennessee feature 100 miles of challenging terrain with a total elevation change of 60,000 feet.

Since 1989, only 20 individuals have completed the race within the strict 60-hour time limit.

Paris concluded the race with a mere 1 minute and 39 seconds remaining, indicating the narrow margin of her historic success.

Out of 40 participants in this edition, only five managed to finish, with Paris being one of them.

The race, inspired by a prison escape, is infamous for its extreme challenge.

Paris's accomplishment is being hailed as possibly the greatest ultra-marathon feat ever.
