Synthesia Secures $180M Funding, Eyes AI Agent Market to Double Revenue
April 15, 2025
Founded in 2017, Synthesia is a London-based startup that leverages generative AI to create realistic avatars for marketing videos.
Recently, the company raised $180 million in a Series D funding round, led by NEA and supported by Google Ventures and MMC Ventures, boosting its valuation to $2.1 billion.
With this funding, Synthesia has achieved an impressive $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) and is gearing up to enter the AI agent market later this year.
The upcoming AI agent tool will enable users to create interactive videos, allowing for real-time viewer engagement through questions during presentations.
Riparbelli, the founder and CEO, believes that this new interactive product could potentially double Synthesia's ARR within a year.
Currently, Synthesia serves 65,000 customers, including more than 70% of Fortune 100 companies, with around 50% of its revenue coming from the US market.
However, the startup faces financial uncertainties due to challenging economic conditions and concerns over US President Donald Trump's tariffs, which may impact customer spending among European tech companies.
