Crypto VC Boom: $5B Raised in 2024, July Hits $1B with Major Blockchain, AI Investments

July 2024 alone saw total investments in the crypto space exceed $1 billion, reaching $1.01 billion, which marks a significant 26.5% increase from June's $735 million.
In July, there were 113 publicly disclosed venture capital investments in crypto, reflecting a 12% increase from the previous month’s 99 investments.
This month ranks as the third-highest for crypto funding rounds in 2024, following March and May, which recorded 190 and 155 rounds respectively.
Venture capital funds invested $527 million into crypto startups in July, marking a year-over-year increase of 14.5%.
The blockchain infrastructure sector dominated funding in July, raising over $420 million, which accounts for nearly 80% of total investments.
Within this sector, nearly 20% of July's total investments were allocated to blockchain infrastructure, while DeFi accounted for 5.8% and CeFi only 2.2%.
Sentient, an AI protocol, secured $85 million in a funding round led by Pantera Capital and Framework Ventures, marking it as the largest funding round for blockchain infrastructure projects.
Partior, a blockchain payment network, raised $60 million from JPMorgan and Standard Chartered, highlighting significant interest from major financial institutions.
Additionally, Pantera Capital and other funds contributed $18 million to NPC Labs, which is focused on developing a blockchain ecosystem.
Iris Energy raised $413 million through stock offerings in July, supporting its growth following the recent Bitcoin halving event.
