A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in North Philadelphia on the evening of October 13, 2024, resulting in the death of a 42-year-old woman.

The collision involved a silver Hyundai Sonata, which struck the victim while making a left turn around 7:30 p.m.

Investigators believe the driver was traveling at high speed, as the impact propelled the woman approximately 100 feet from the point of collision.

The force of the crash was so severe that the woman's boot was found about 100 feet away, and her wheelchair was discovered in multiple pieces.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small noted that the exact circumstances of the woman's position at the time of the accident remain unclear due to a lack of witnesses.

Witnesses arriving shortly after the crash found the woman semiconscious with significant head and body injuries, prompting them to call 911.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Following the accident, the occupants of the Hyundai Sonata fled the scene on foot, and no arrests have been made so far.
