Character performers at Disneyland Resort have voted to unionize with the Actors' Equity Association.

The vote saw 953 workers in favor and 258 against, marking the first unionization effort by character workers at the Southern California resort.

The National Labor Relations Board is set to certify the results within a week.

The union represents approximately 1,700 workers and aims to negotiate improvements in health, safety, wages, benefits, working conditions, and job security.

Actors' Equity Association President Kate Shindle expressed that the workers' dream has come true, and union officials will soon discuss desired improvements with cast members.

Negotiations with The Walt Disney Company for a contract will follow.

Disneyland officials, including spokesperson Jessica Good, have refrained from commenting on the results at this time.

This unionization aligns Disneyland Resort performers with their unionized counterparts at Walt Disney World and reflects a broader trend of unionization in the entertainment industry.
