Five men have been arrested on suspicion of murdering Michael Wheeler, a 37-year-old from Yeovil, Somerset, who has been missing since August 24, 2024.

A body has been found in the search for Michael Wheeler, who disappeared a month ago, prompting a murder investigation.

The arrested men, aged between their late teens and late thirties, appeared at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court and have been remanded into custody, with a subsequent court appearance scheduled at Bristol Crown Court.

The defendants include David Garland (39), Jack Rance (28), Mark Roberts (38), and Reuben Clare (18), with Garland and Rance having no fixed abode.

Concerns for Wheeler's welfare were raised on September 16 after he missed appointments and failed to communicate with family and friends.

Wheeler's abandoned car was discovered in Yeovil, which led Avon and Somerset Police to initiate an investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Lorett Spierenburg is leading the investigation, which is being treated as a murder inquiry.

Authorities emphasize that there is no evidence suggesting an increased risk to public safety, despite the serious nature of the investigation.
