87-Year-Old Man Abducted, Beaten, and Abandoned After Leaving Greater Manchester Mosque
September 17, 2024An 87-year-old man was violently abducted after leaving a mosque in Greater Manchester on September 15.
While walking home from Oldham Central Mosque, the victim was approached by a black vehicle.
Two men forcibly bundled him into the car, blindfolded him, and demanded money and his phone.
During the kidnapping, the elderly man sustained serious injuries and was threatened repeatedly by his assailants.
The men tore his clothes before abandoning him in West Yorkshire, 15 miles from his home.
After being left stranded, the victim had to walk for an hour to find help, eventually reaching a house on Oldham Road in Rishworth to call 999 around 10:40 PM.
Detective Inspector Emma Hulston described the incident as an 'awful attack' and emphasized the victim's terrifying experience.
She also highlighted the disturbing nature of the attack and the need for witnesses or relevant footage to come forward.
Greater Manchester Police have launched an urgent appeal for information regarding the incident, seeking the two suspects.
Authorities are looking for two suspects, described as Asian, possibly Bangladeshi, both aged 25-30, who were last seen drinking alcohol.
Police are investigating the incident and are seeking information from the public, including any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.
