A man in his 40s has been arrested in Manchester city centre for a series of rapes targeting intoxicated men and women.

The incidents occurred in February 2024 and involved four rapes.

The suspect also stole personal items from the victims.

Greater Manchester Police arrested the man on July 21 after conducting an investigation.

Detective Superintendent Richard Hunt highlighted the seriousness of the crimes and encouraged other victims of sexual violence to come forward.

The victims are receiving support from specialist officers as the investigation continues.

The suspect remains in custody for questioning.
