The gala will feature notable performers, including Chip Zien, Elizabeth Gillies, and Bryan Batt.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is set to reopen on April 14, 2025, at 7 PM with a Renaissance Gala organized by producers Tom D’Angora and Michael D'Angora.

This event aims to raise funds for Broadway Cares, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to AIDS fundraising and grants.

Additional performers at the event will include Tony Award winners André De Shields, Lillias White, Matt Doyle, and Lauren Patten, with more names to be announced.

Music direction for the gala will be provided by Benjamin Rauhala, with lighting design by Aiden Bezark and creative consulting by Brendan McCann.

The reopening will also showcase renovations designed by Tony Award-winning architect David Rockwell.

The theatre faced closure in August 2024 due to financial struggles exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, but was saved through a fundraising effort that raised nearly $1 million.

Now under the ownership of Tom D’Angora and Michael D'Angora, the theatre is committed to continuing its legacy.

Originally known as the Downstairs Theatre Bar, the Laurie Beechman Theatre opened in 1983 and has hosted a wide range of artists, including legends like Joan Rivers and Jinkx Monsoon.

Within its first 14 years, the theatre produced over 1,500 one-act plays, establishing itself as a significant venue in the performing arts community.
