The York Theatre Company is set to host the 32nd Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala on November 11, 2024, at The Edison Ballroom in New York City.

This prestigious award, established in 1988, recognizes significant lifetime achievements in musical theater and is endorsed by the Hammerstein family and the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization.

At this year's gala, Bernadette Peters will be honored with the 2024 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theater, while Ted Snowdon will receive The York Theatre Company Founders' Award.

Bernadette Peters is a celebrated performer, known for her roles in iconic musicals such as Hello, Dolly! and Gypsy, and has received three Tony Awards, a Golden Globe, and numerous Emmy and Grammy nominations.

Ted Snowdon has a long-standing relationship with The York Theatre Company, where he has produced several notable plays and musicals, including the Tony Award-winning Spring Awakening.

Past recipients of the Oscar Hammerstein Award include legendary figures like Stephen Sondheim, Patti LuPone, and Angela Lansbury, highlighting the award's prestigious history.

Michael Urie, currently starring in Once Upon a Mattress, will host the gala, which will feature performances by special guests including Alex Newell, Andrew Rannells, and Victor Garber.

Founded over 50 years ago, The York Theatre Company specializes in developing and producing new musicals, earning critical acclaim and producing over 45 cast recordings.

Recent productions by The York include titles like A Sign of the Times and Yank!, showcasing the company's commitment to both new works and revivals.

Due to a flood, The York Theatre Company is currently producing at The Theatre at St. Jean's after relocating from its previous home at Saint Peter's Church.
