Apple Inc. is preparing to launch a significant feature in the upcoming watchOS 11.4 update that will allow alarms to sound even when the Apple Watch is set to Silent Mode.

This new functionality is designed to assist users who find it challenging to wake up using haptic feedback alone, even at its highest intensity.

The update comes in response to prior criticism regarding alarm issues in iOS 18, where users reported alarms activating at incorrect times, leading to oversleeping.

The feature was first reported by 9to5Mac and is expected to be available to all users in the coming weeks.

By introducing this feature, Apple aims to restore user confidence in its alarm functionality, which has been a point of concern for many.

In addition to the alarm feature, watchOS 11.4 will include minor updates, such as fixing a bug that caused the watch to become unresponsive when switching watch faces.

Despite a slight decrease in revenue from its Wearables, Home, and Accessories category, Apple reported an increase in overall revenue during the first quarter, highlighting the strength of its active installed base.

Many users believe this feature should have been implemented years ago, as it addresses a long-standing limitation for those who typically use Silent Mode.

The watchOS 11.4 update follows the public release of watchOS 11.3.1 in February 2025 and is currently in the Release Candidate phase.
