iPhone SE 4 Launch Looms: Apple Intelligence, Dynamic Island, and USB-C Charging Expected
January 20, 2025Apple is gearing up to launch the new iPhone SE 4, which is expected to incorporate the Dynamic Island feature seen in the iPhone 14 Pro models.
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg noted that the current iPhone SE 3 is becoming increasingly difficult to find in stores, although it remains available for purchase online.
Camera enhancements will include a 48MP wide-angle rear camera with advanced video recording capabilities and a 12MP TrueDepth front camera equipped with Face ID.
While the iPhone SE 4 may lack some high-end features, its cost-effectiveness and upgraded specifications are likely to appeal to a wide range of users.
Powered by a six-core A18 chip built on a 3nm architecture, the SE 4 will also feature a 5-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine.
The device is set to replace the Lightning connector with a USB-C port, and it will include a single 48MP rear camera along with an updated A-series chip.
Anticipated upgrades also include a 6.06-inch Full-HD+ LTPS OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate, improving the visual experience significantly.
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to run on iOS 18, support Dual SIM functionality, and be water and dust resistant with an IP68 rating.
This new model represents a strategic move for Apple to strengthen its position in the budget smartphone market, currently dominated by competitors like Samsung and various Chinese brands.
While the current iPhone SE 3 is priced at $429, rumors suggest a slight price increase for the SE 4, which is anticipated to stay under $500, making it a more budget-friendly alternative to the $799 iPhone 16.
The upcoming device will support 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and various GPS technologies, enhancing its performance.
It is expected to feature a 3,279mAh battery and will adopt USB-C charging to comply with new EU regulations.
