Google Meet has rolled out a new feature called 'Take notes for me,' designed to enhance user focus during meetings by automatically taking notes.

After meetings conclude, the organizer or anyone who enabled the 'summary so far' feature will receive an email recap link.

This feature is currently available to Workspace customers with specific add-ons, such as Gemini Enterprise and AI Meetings and Messaging.

Additionally, Google Meet has introduced an automatic picture-in-picture (PiP) feature that activates when users switch tabs, facilitating better multitasking.

The PiP feature aims to reduce the frustration of losing track of calls while managing other tasks.

The rollout of these features began earlier this week and may take up to 15 days to reach all eligible users.

These updates were first announced at the 2023 Cloud Next conference, marking them as some of the most anticipated AI features.

Google has been integrating generative AI across various services, including Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, since last year.

The introduction of these AI features from Google and Microsoft could challenge existing external AI note-taking service providers.

Dave Citron, Google's Senior Director of Product for Meet, highlighted the company's ambition to position Google Meet as a leading video conferencing solution.
