OpenAI's ChatGPT has experienced remarkable growth, achieving a revenue of at least $415 million per month in early 2025, which represents a 30% increase over the previous three months.

This surge in revenue can be attributed to the addition of 4.5 million new paying subscribers since the end of 2024, highlighting the strong market demand for ChatGPT's services.

In line with this growth, OpenAI recently launched the GPT-4o image-generation model, which boasts significant improvements over the earlier DALL-E model, particularly in generating realistic images and accurate text.

The new image generator saw an explosive response, with one million users signing up within just an hour of its release, demonstrating its viral appeal.

Initially, the GPT-4o model was accessible to all users, but OpenAI CEO Sam Altman later announced delays for free users, ultimately allowing limited access with a cap on daily usage.

Despite these advancements, OpenAI is grappling with challenges such as service slowdowns and product delays due to capacity issues, leading Altman to request additional GPU resources to meet the rising demand.

To further enhance its subscription offerings, OpenAI has rolled out several updates, including the Sora video generation model and advanced voice capabilities, both available to subscribers since December 2024.

Amidst this rapid growth and innovation, OpenAI remains committed to its long-term goal of achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), navigating increasing competition from other tech firms.
