Alison Brie Cast as Evil-Lyn in Amazon's Live-Action Masters of the Universe Adaptation
September 5, 2024Alison Brie has been cast as the villain Evil-Lyn in Amazon's upcoming live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, the film is set for a theatrical release on June 5, 2026.
The project will be directed by Travis Knight, known for his work on Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee.
The screenplay is penned by Chris Butler, with contributions from David Callaham and brothers Aaron and Adam Nee.
Nicholas Galitzine will portray Prince Adam, also known as He-Man, while Camila Mendes has been cast as Teela, the Captain of the Royal Guard.
Evil-Lyn, introduced in 1983, is a powerful sorceress and serves as Skeletor's second-in-command, skilled in witchcraft and sorcery.
The Hollywood Reporter was the first to announce Brie's casting in the Masters of the Universe film.
Brie's casting as Evil-Lyn suggests increased momentum for the often-delayed reboot and raises questions about the casting of Skeletor, He-Man's arch-nemesis.
The iconic villain Skeletor has yet to be cast, with previous portrayals including Mark Hamill's voice in the 2021 revival.
The story revolves around Prince Adam of Eternia, who transforms into He-Man with the Power Sword to battle the evil Skeletor.
Masters of the Universe has been in development for nearly two decades and is now nearing the start of production.
Brie is known for her roles in GLOW and Community, and she will also appear in the horror film Together alongside her husband Dave Franco.
