During the Token 2049 conference in Singapore, Solana Mobile announced the upcoming launch of its second crypto phone, the Seeker, which is set to ship in 2025.

The Seeker has already garnered significant interest, with over 140,000 pre-orders generating more than $63 million in revenue.

The marketing strategy for the Seeker will leverage token airdrops, a tactic that proved successful during the launch of Solana's first phone, the Saga.

The Saga initially faced poor sales and criticism, resulting in a 40% price reduction shortly after launch, but later saw a surge in demand due to the popularity of the BONK memecoin.

The demand for the Saga increased significantly after airdrops of two cat-themed memecoins, which covered the phone's purchase price for many buyers.

The Seeker will feature notable hardware upgrades over the Saga, including improved battery life, enhanced camera capabilities, and a higher-quality display.

Emmett Hollyer, General Manager at Solana Labs, emphasized that the Seeker will support a wide range of crypto use cases, not just memecoins.

Each Seeker phone will include a specialty-built crypto wallet that integrates with a Seed Vault for secure crypto transactions.

The Seeker is designed to enhance the development of decentralized applications by supporting various token launchpads and improving tracking of token rewards.

At the conference, Anthony Scaramucci noted that crypto advocates are working to lessen the influence of SEC Chair Gary Gensler on Democratic cryptocurrency policy.

Solana's co-founder, Anatoly Yakovenko, highlighted the importance of making the Seeker accessible and well-integrated for web3 functionality.

To facilitate airdrop allocation for Seeker users, Solana Mobile has partnered with Helius for zk-compression technology.
