Kylian Mbappé's official X account was hacked overnight on August 28 to 29, leading to the promotion of a fraudulent token called $MBAPPE.

During the hack, provocative posts were shared, including one that claimed, 'I am giving back to my community,' encouraging followers to send cryptocurrency with a promise to double it.

One trader lost over $1 million after purchasing the scam token, spending approximately $1.03 million on 7,156 Solana tokens, which later plummeted in value.

The $MBAPPE token briefly surged to a market cap of around $460 million before crashing to below $100,000 shortly after.

While many investors faced significant losses, one trader managed to turn a $28 investment into $124,000 by selling before the price collapse.

Crypto.com issued a warning to users about the $MBAPPE scam, advising them to steer clear of the fraudulent token following the false endorsement on Mbappé's account.

The hacked account, which has 14 million followers, displayed various controversial messages before they were deleted, including derogatory remarks about football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Among the posts was an insult directed at Messi, referring to him derogatorily alongside a photo of him in tears.

This incident reflects a broader trend of scams involving celebrity-themed cryptocurrencies, following similar hacks of accounts belonging to other celebrities.

The situation raises concerns about the risks associated with celebrity-endorsed meme coins, especially in light of recent similar hacking incidents.

By dawn, all hacker posts were removed, and Mbappé's legitimate tweet celebrating his first title with Real Madrid was restored.

As of now, Kylian Mbappé has not commented on the hacking incident or the promotion of the $MBAPPE token.
