Grammy winner Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker are joining the producing team for the upcoming Broadway revival of Othello, set to open in spring 2025.

This revival marks the first Broadway staging of Othello in over 40 years.

Performances are expected to begin in spring 2025 at a yet-to-be-announced Shubert Organization theatre.

The production will star Denzel Washington as Othello, Jake Gyllenhaal as Iago, and Broadway newcomer Molly Osborne as Desdemona.

The play revolves around Othello, a Moorish military commander manipulated by Iago into distrusting his wife, Desdemona.

Burruss and Tucker will collaborate with lead producer Brian Anthony Moreland and a diverse team of co-producers.

The couple previously worked with Moreland on the Tony-nominated revival of The Piano Lesson, as well as The Wiz and Thoughts of a Colored Man.

The creative team includes notable talents in scenic, costume, lighting, sound, and hair design, with 101 Productions, Ltd. serving as general managers.

Award-winning professionals such as Derek McLane for scenic design and Natasha Katz for lighting design are part of the creative team.

The co-producing roster features former football player Devale Ellis and Kinky Boots producer Ken Davenport, among others.

Directed by Kenny Leon, this production is the first Broadway staging of Othello since 1982, which featured James Earl Jones and Christopher Plummer.

Washington's involvement marks his first Broadway performance since 2018's The Iceman Cometh, and he has previously collaborated with Leon on Fences and A Raisin in the Sun.
