The Always Live initiative, funded by the Victorian government, aims to revitalize Australia's live music industry post-COVID and is now in its third year.

This year's program features over 200 Australian artists and events across regional Victoria, promoting inclusivity and diverse music experiences.

Notably, more than 200 of the 289 artists participating in Always Live are from Victoria, including popular acts like Missy Higgins and Baker Boy.

A significant portion of the events, over a third, will be held in regional Victoria, with The Push organizing all-ages gigs in these communities.

In 2023, the initiative attracted more than 155,000 attendees and supported thousands of jobs, according to Major Events Minister Steve Dimopoulos.

Among the highlights, The Offspring will perform a one-night show titled 'Light It Up' at The Forum, with tickets allocated across Australia and New Zealand due to high demand.

Jack White, the former frontman of the White Stripes, is set to perform a significant one-off gig in December at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne.

White will also perform in Ballarat the night before his Melbourne show, marking his first Australian appearance since 2022.

Additionally, Tina Arena will celebrate the 30th anniversary of her album 'Don't Ask' with a concert featuring Richard Marx, Daryl Braithwaite, and Kate Ceberano.

The lineup for Always Live also includes notable artists like St Vincent and Róisín Murphy, ensuring a diverse musical experience.

However, critics, including Mitch Wilson from the Australian Festivals Association, argue that government-backed programs like Always Live distort the live music market and hinder struggling festivals.

Concerns have been raised about the impact of government competition on festivals like Byron Bay Bluesfest and Splendour in the Grass, which have faced postponements or cancellations.
