A 14-year-old girl has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing incident at Big4 Hervey Bay Holiday Park in Point Vernon, Queensland.

The incident occurred around 9pm on Saturday, involving the girl and a 24-year-old man.

During an altercation, the girl reportedly stabbed the man once in the back.

The man was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Emergency services were called after reports that the 24-year-old man had been stabbed.

Queensland Police confirmed the girl was apprehended nearby and charged with one count of murder.

Another 14-year-old girl witnessed the stabbing and is assisting police with their investigation.

Detective Acting Inspector Craig Mansfield stated that the victim and the accused had a limited relationship, having met hours before the incident.

Police are investigating the connection between the victim and the accused, as they believe it is not a random encounter.

Authorities are reviewing mobile phone records and CCTV footage to gather more information about the events leading up to the stabbing.

Authorities believe that the girl and the man were known to each other.

The teenage girl is scheduled to appear in Hervey Bay Children’s Court on Monday.
