Chloe Covell, at just 14 years old, made history as Australia's youngest Olympic competitor in the Women’s Street Skateboarding final.

In her Olympic debut at the Paris Olympics, Covell finished eighth, narrowly missing the chance to become Australia's youngest gold medallist.

Entering the competition ranked sixth in the world, Covell was considered a strong medal contender.

Covell scored 246.73 in her first heat, placing second among competitors at the Concorde skate park in Paris.

However, her second run was challenging; she attempted a risky board flip but fell, which hindered her scoring potential.

Despite landing only one trick during the competition, Covell showcased her determination and aggressive skating style.

The final was dominated by Japanese skaters, with Coco Yoshizawa winning gold and Liz Akama taking silver.

Covell expressed her determination to keep trying despite the pressure, stating, 'I knew I could do it, so I tried to keep trying to do it, and just focus on it.'

Previously, Covell won a silver medal at the 2022 World Skateboarding Championship and became the youngest gold medallist in women’s street skateboarding history at the X Games last year.

With her talent and potential, Covell remains a promising figure in skateboarding, aiming to achieve greater success in the future.

Her father, Luke Covell, a former rugby league player, is coaching her through this Olympic journey, providing support and guidance.
