London Northwestern Railway has unveiled a new rail service plan between London and Manchester.

This follows the cancellation of the HS2 northern leg.

The proposal includes extending existing services to Manchester Victoria via the West Midlands.

Direct links are planned from Rugeley, Lichfield, Tamworth, and Atherstone to Manchester city centre and Warrington by summer 2026.

There is a possibility of introducing trains to Manchester Airport by extending the service between Stafford and Crewe.

The decision on launching these services will be made by the Department for Transport and the Office of Rail and Road.

The aim is to enhance connectivity between the North West and the West Midlands.

Fares are projected to be up to 50% cheaper than other modes of transportation.

London Northwestern Railway views this plan as a way to improve the rail network and provide a sustainable alternative to car travel.
