Vanity Fair has unveiled new details about Paramount's upcoming film Gladiator II, directed by Ridley Scott and written by David Scarpa.

Paul Mescal, known for his role in 'Normal People,' stars as Lucius, the son of Lucilla, portrayed by Connie Nielsen.

Set in northern Africa and Rome, Mescal has earned the nickname 'Brick Wall Paul' from co-star Pedro Pascal for his dedication to fight choreography.

Pedro Pascal plays Roman general Acacius, who was trained under Maximus, and he praised Mescal's physical transformation and talent.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 22, with the first trailer set to drop on July 9.

Gladiator II will feature intense battle scenes between Mescal and Pascal, focusing on themes of family, power, and revenge with Lucius as the central character.

Ridley Scott is currently editing the film, facing challenges due to ongoing strikes, while Russell Crowe has expressed some discomfort with the sequel.
