The UK experienced its warmest spring on record in 2024, with an average temperature of 9.37C, surpassing the previous record set in 2017.

May 2024 set a new temperature record of 13.1C, the highest since 1884.

The spring also saw above-average rainfall, making it the wettest spring since 1986, with some areas experiencing over a third more rain than usual.

Northern Ireland and Scotland were slightly drier than average in May, while the rest of the UK saw significant rainfall.

Today, rain is expected to move southwards with windy and colder conditions in the north.

Greenpeace UK emphasized the need for urgent government action in response to increasing climate concerns.
