A violent shooting outside café l'Astoria in Saint-Gilles, Brussels, early on June 27th resulted in the deaths of a 44-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman.

Two others, aged 42 and 49, are critically injured, and one person is wounded.

The suspects, who remain unidentified, used a rifle in the attack before fleeing the scene on a scooter.

Police are investigating the incident as a case of murder and attempted murder, speculating a possible feud between drug gangs as the motive.

The mayor has called for increased police presence to address the rise in drug-related violence in the area.

Despite the overall increase in violence in Belgium due to drug gang conflicts, authorities have not yet linked this specific attack to the drug trade.
