Security officer Gavin Plumb, 37, is on trial at Chelmsford Crown Court for plotting to kidnap, rape, and murder TV presenter Holly Willoughby.

Plumb, a convicted violent offender with a history of attempted kidnappings and false imprisonment, had purchased items for the alleged attack, including metal cable ties.

He solicited an undercover officer online to join his plot, sharing images of Willoughby's home and discussing his obsession with her in detail.

Plumb denies all charges of soliciting murder, encouraging kidnap, and encouraging rape.

The trial revealed that Willoughby was alerted to the plot just before going on air, leading to her resignation from This Morning.

Despite the traumatic experience, Willoughby has returned to television and is collaborating with Bear Grylls on a new show.

Plumb, who pleaded not guilty and was denied bail, allegedly discussed taking Willoughby to a 'dungeon' and considered getting a job as her security guard to get close to her.

He had thousands of photos of Willoughby on his phone and bragged to an undercover officer about knowing her routines and lack of security measures.

Willoughby waived her right to anonymity in connection with the case and recently announced her departure from This Morning after 14 years, with upcoming hosting gigs on Dancing On Ice and a Netflix show with Bear Grylls.
