A deadly fire at the Aricell lithium battery factory in Hwaseong, South Korea has resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 22 workers, mainly Chinese and Laotian migrants.

The fire, believed to have been sparked by a battery explosion, was difficult to contain due to the highly flammable lithium batteries emitting toxic gases.

President Yoon Suk Yeol has visited the site to offer condolences and has promised to implement measures to prevent future battery-related fires.
