He has since deleted social media posts about his military history.

Premier Steven Miles highlighted the seriousness of dishonesty about military service, especially in a town like Townsville with a significant army presence.

Thompson claims he served in the Royal Australian Corps of Signals and the SAS for about five years but is under scrutiny for discrepancies in his record.

No findings have been made by either the OIA or CCC at this time.

Thompson expressed his willingness to provide confirmation of his service history and disappointment over leaked information.
