Leah Harrison, a 10-year-old Year 6 pupil at Mount Pleasant Primary School in Darlington, tragically died in a mudslide during a school trip near Carlton Bank in North Yorkshire.

The mudslide incident occurred in the village of Carlton-in-Cleveland, and Leah was the only fatality.

Lingfield Education Trust is providing counseling for students and staff to cope with the loss.

Excessive rainfall in the area contributed to the mudslide, with yellow weather warnings for rain in place at the time.

Leah, described as a happy and bubbly child with dreams of becoming a footballer, is being mourned by the community.

The family is receiving support from specially trained officers and has requested privacy.
