The Mirage hotel-casino in Las Vegas will shut down on July 17, 2024, for a comprehensive three-year renovation, with plans to reopen as the Hard Rock Las Vegas in 2027.

Over 3,000 employees will be laid off due to the closure. Hard Rock International is offering severance packages, while the Culinary and Bartenders Union has secured options for its members, including severance and seniority rights.

The renovation will introduce a 700-foot guitar-shaped hotel tower and is expected to nearly double the employment capacity of the property, creating approximately 7,000 jobs after reopening, in addition to 2,500 construction jobs during the renovation.

Hard Rock International is set to spend around $80 million on severance packages for impacted workers. The Culinary Union has also negotiated benefits to support employees during the transition.

Iconic attractions of The Mirage, including the Beatles LOVE show and the volcano fountain, will see their end with the closure, and all reservations and tickets post-July 14 will be canceled and refunded.

The Mirage's closure aligns with Las Vegas' evolving hospitality industry, which has recently witnessed the closure of the Tropicana Las Vegas for a new baseball stadium project, indicating a shift in consumer preferences and entertainment offerings.
