Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2023: Cher, Ozzy, Blige Among New Inductees
April 23, 2024The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced Mary J. Blige, Cher, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, and Ozzy Osbourne as its newest inductees.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for October 19th in Cleveland, Ohio, with live broadcast on Disney+ and a later airing on ABC.
Additional honorees include Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Big Mama Thornton for the Influence Musical Award, alongside Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield for the Musical Excellence Award.
Fan votes contributed to the selection of inductees, highlighting Foreigner and Ozzy Osbourne's significant impact on rock music.
Cher, who initially showed disinterest in the Hall of Fame, is among the inductees, which helps increase the representation of women.
Eligibility for induction requires artists to have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame museum is planning a $135m expansion to be completed by early 2026, aiming to diversify and address criticisms of sexism and lack of diversity.
