A mass stabbing in Rockford, Illinois on Wednesday resulted in four deaths and seven injuries.

The assailant, 22-year-old Christian I. Soto, used a knife, bat, and vehicle in attacks across multiple locations within a 20-minute span.

Soto has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and home invasion; no accomplices have been identified.

The rampage included killing two by stabbing, fatally assaulting a girl with a bat, running over and stabbing a mail carrier, and attacking others in their homes.

Victims ranged from a 15-year-old girl to a 63-year-old woman, with a U.S. Postal Service veteran among the deceased.

Three of the injured remain hospitalized, with counseling services and a vigil being offered to the community.

The attacks follow a recent stabbing at a local Walmart and have prompted state and federal law enforcement involvement.
