Ohio Duo Arrested for Using Dead Roommate to Withdraw Bank Funds
March 10, 2024Two women from Ohio, Loreen Feralo and Karen Casbohm, were arrested for using their deceased roommate's body to withdraw $900 from his bank account.
The pair placed the body in the passenger seat of a car and used a drive-thru teller to conduct the transaction before driving the body to a hospital and leaving it without identification.
Charges against Feralo and Casbohm include theft and gross abuse of a corpse; they were both roommates but not related to the deceased.
The deceased's stepson has publicly expressed his shock and disbelief over the actions of the two women.
The incident took place in Ashtabula, Ohio, and the cause of the roommate's death remains undetermined pending an autopsy, which could take up to eight months.
Casbohm has been arraigned with a bond set at $5,000, with Feralo's arraignment pending. Police are investigating further, and additional charges may be filed.
Preliminary hearings for both women are scheduled for the upcoming Tuesday.
