HCLTech has announced the establishment of a new AI lab in Singapore, aimed at enhancing regional enterprises' AI initiatives through its offerings like AI Force and AI Foundry.

The announcement was made by Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chairperson of HCLTech, during an event with Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information and the Economic Development Board on November 4, 2024.

The event also highlighted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with local polytechnics to facilitate training initiatives for students.

The lab's primary focus will be to assist businesses in applying existing AI technologies in real-world contexts and developing viable AI products.

HCLTech aims to recruit a mix of software engineers and diploma holders, particularly those who have undergone mid-career upskilling programs, to address the global shortage of engineers.

Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for Digital Development, emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaboration, noting that polytechnic students often possess strong technical skills.

HCLTech has been active in Singapore for over 40 years, serving as the hub for its Southeast Asia operations and implementing significant technological advancements.

The company is also in the process of acquiring ASAP, an automotive technology firm, in a deal valued at approximately $281.78 million, further expanding its capabilities.

Internally, HCLTech is leveraging AI to modernize operations, particularly in software testing, which enhances efficiency through automated processes.

As of the latest report, HCLTech shares are stable, reflecting increased interest from both foreign and domestic institutional investors.

The launch event was attended by notable figures, including Tan Kiat How and H.E. Dr. Shilpak Ambule, High Commissioner of India to Singapore, underscoring the significance of this initiative.
