Climate researchers have created animated models of nearly 200 coastal cities to visualize the impact of global warming and rising sea levels.

The models depict two scenarios: one where emissions are reduced and temperatures rise by 1.5C, and another where emissions increase causing temperatures to rise by 3C or more.

The simulations show flooded cities and landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Plaza de la Catedral in Havana.

A 1.5C increase in global temperatures is the upper limit set by the Paris Agreement, which could be reached by 2029 if emissions are not reduced.

The models highlight the legacy we are leaving for future generations and emphasize the urgency to mitigate the climate crisis.
