Robin Capital Closes €15M Fund to Boost B2B SaaS Startups Across Europe
December 20, 2024Founded in December 2022, Robin Capital builds on nearly 15 years of Haak's experience in founding and investing, including his role as an early investor in successful companies like N26.
Robin Capital, a Germany-based venture capital fund founded by Robin Haak, has successfully closed its inaugural fund, 'Robin Fund One', at €13 million, with a total of €15 million including an additional growth-focused investment vehicle.
The fund specifically targets Pre-Seed and Seed-stage B2B SaaS startups that address significant challenges in Europe, particularly in the DACH region.
Robin Fund One is vertical-agnostic, investing across diverse sectors such as HR, AI, FinTech, Climate, DevOps, Robotics, and Industrial Tech.
To date, 55% of the fund's capital has been deployed across 28 portfolio companies, including notable investments in Kombo Dev from Germany and Phacet Labs from France.
Haak described the fundraising environment as challenging, citing macroeconomic difficulties and the absence of institutional investors in his fund.
Despite a recent decline in overall venture capital investments in Europe, the tech investment landscape is showing signs of recovery, particularly in early-stage companies.
In 2023, European tech startups are projected to raise around $45 billion, a significant drop from the $82 billion raised in 2022, highlighting the challenges faced by the sector.
Haak indicated that Robin Fund One was oversubscribed and exceeded its target during fundraising efforts, culminating in the final close on December 20, 2024.
Haak emphasizes that Robin Fund One is just the beginning of a long-term commitment to supporting founders with capital and expertise, aiming to guide them from inception to IPO.
The fund has established a robust network of 70 Limited Partners, with 95% being experienced professionals, including General Partners from top firms and successful founders.
Robin Capital is part of a growing trend of Solo General Partners in Europe, allowing for faster decision-making and enhanced access to networks.
