Nordic Air Defence Secures €1.2M for Breakthrough Drone Interceptor, Aims to Revolutionize European Defence Tech
November 12, 2024Emerging from stealth mode in September 2024, Nordic Air Defence unveiled its first product, the Kreuger 100, a dual-use drone interceptor platform.
Nordic Air Defence, a Stockholm-based defence tech startup, announced it has secured €1.2 million in funding, led by Norway's SNÖ Ventures.
The Kreuger 100 is designed to be ten times cheaper to produce than traditional anti-drone technologies, facilitating mass manufacturing and scalability for customers.
Co-founded by Karl Rosander, the startup aims to develop homegrown drone defence technology to reduce Europe's reliance on US and global supply chains.
This funding round aims to accelerate research and development as well as airborne testing for the company's products.
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its offerings to include land, sea, and subsea defence while entering global markets.
Rosander emphasized the urgency for Europe to establish its own defence tech ecosystem, drawing parallels to the rapid innovation seen during the COVID vaccine response.
The team at Nordic Air Defence boasts veterans from leading firms in the defence and tech sectors, highlighting their innovative approach to defence technology.
The funding round also saw participation from private investors, including Noam Perski, who has joined as a strategic advisor.
Max Samuel from SNÖ Ventures stressed the need for transformation in the European defence sector to enhance technological sovereignty and reduce dependence on foreign technology.
Key investors include Jörgen Bladh of Northzone and Jan Gurander, former Deputy CEO of Volvo Group, who have joined the existing board members and advisors.
The capital raised will be allocated to enhance research and development and airborne testing in preparation for an upcoming seed round.
