A volcano near Reykjavik, Iceland, erupted on November 20, 2024, marking the seventh eruption in the area since December 2023.

In response to the eruption, an emergency state has been declared for the region, which is standard protocol during volcanic events near populated areas.

By November 21, lava from the eruption had engulfed the parking lot of the Blue Lagoon, a popular thermal spa, covering the area designed for 350 vehicles.

Prior to the eruption, a significant increase in seismic activity was detected, with a warning issued just 15 minutes before the event.

Officials state that this latest eruption does not pose a further threat to the town, despite the ongoing volcanic activity.
