Portugal's Auto Market Surges by 13.1%, Electric Cars Take 16% Share

New vehicle registrations totaled 68,520, with electric cars making up 16% of this figure.
Over half of the new passenger cars, 51.5%, were powered by alternative energy, including electric.
The leading brands in the market included Peugeot, Renault, Citroën, Mercedes, and Dacia.
The light commercial vehicle segment experienced a 17% growth in March and 14.1% in the first quarter.
Conversely, the registration of heavy vehicles declined by 12.8% in March but increased by 9.5% in the first quarter year-over-year.
The data indicates a robust expansion of Portugal's auto industry with a strong shift towards electric and hybrid vehicles.
