Jets Star Ehlers Out Week-to-Week; Vilardi Nears Return as Playoff Push Intensifies
April 16, 2025
Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers has had an impressive 2024-2025 season, recording 63 points, including 24 goals and 39 assists, in 69 games, marking his 10th season with the team.
Selected ninth overall in the 2014 NHL Draft, Ehlers has accumulated a total of 520 career points, consisting of 225 goals and 295 assists, over 674 games played.
Unfortunately, Ehlers is currently week-to-week with a right foot injury sustained from a collision with an official during a game on April 13, 2025.
This injury has compounded an earlier lower-body issue that Ehlers had aggravated earlier in the season, as noted by head coach Scott Arniel.
In better news for the Jets, teammate Gabriel Vilardi has been upgraded to day-to-day in his recovery from an undisclosed injury, having skated on his own after being sidelined since March 23.
Vilardi has also had a strong season, contributing 61 points, with 27 goals and 34 assists, in 71 games.
Meanwhile, defenseman Dylan Samberg is in good shape after an apparent injury from blocking a shot in a recent game against the Edmonton Oilers, as he participated in practice on April 15.
Looking ahead, the Jets plan to field their regular players in their regular-season finale against the Anaheim Ducks on April 16, 2025, as they aim to set a franchise record with 115 points this season.
