The Los Angeles Kings have been announced as the host of the 2025 NHL Draft, marking the first time the event will take place in Los Angeles since 2010.

According to NHL Central Scouting's midterm rankings, Matthew Schaefer, a defenseman from the Erie Otters, is currently ranked No. 1 among North American skaters.

Victor Eklund, a right wing from Djurgarden in Sweden's second division, leads the International skater rankings.

Scheduled for June 27 and June 28, 2025, the draft will be held at L.A. Live's Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

The first round of the draft is set for Friday, June 27, while rounds two through seven will follow on Saturday, June 28.

Top NHL draft prospects will be in attendance, alongside fans and media, while NHL executives, scouts, and coaches will participate virtually.

The date for the NHL lottery, which determines the order of the top 16 draft picks, has yet to be announced; last year's lottery occurred on May 7.
