Devin White, a former linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has signed a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders as he aims to revitalize his career.

White's difficulties continued in 2024 with the Houston Texans, where he managed only 19 tackles and no sacks over seven games.

This move comes as the Raiders look to fill significant gaps at linebacker following the departures of Robert Spillane and Divine Deablo in free agency.

At just 27 years old, White has the opportunity to rebuild his value with the Raiders after a challenging previous year.

However, his performance has declined sharply since then, culminating in a loss of his starting position and a disappointing season in 2023.

Previously, White was known for his strong defensive leadership, playing a crucial role in the Buccaneers' Super Bowl-winning defense.

Reflecting on his career, White describes his transition to Las Vegas as a 'breath of fresh air' and a 'life-humbling experience,' acknowledging that he may have needed a change of scenery.

Injuries and a contract dispute contributed to his decline, leading to his release from the Buccaneers after they exercised his fifth-year option.

After joining the Eagles last offseason with hopes of addressing their linebacker issues, White was released after failing to play in any games due to injury.

He now reunites with Raiders general manager John Spytek, who was instrumental in drafting him as a first-round pick in 2019.

Despite his past accolades, including a Pro Bowl selection in 2021, White's recent struggles have diminished interest from teams.

Looking ahead, White may face the Eagles in 2025, depending on his performance with the Raiders.
