Micah Parsons, the standout linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, is entering the final year of his rookie contract without any ongoing extension talks.

Over his four seasons, Parsons has consistently achieved over 12 sacks each year, accumulating a total of 52.5 career sacks in just 63 games, which ranks him 13th in Cowboys history.

His performance has not gone unnoticed, as he ranked fourth in pass rush grade and sixth in overall grade among edge defenders, according to Pro Football Focus.

As he looks ahead, Parsons is expected to pursue a salary that aligns with elite pass rushers, following lucrative contracts awarded to stars like Nick Bosa and T.J. Watt.

Despite missing four games last season due to an ankle injury, Parsons still delivered an impressive performance, recording 12.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 43 combined tackles in the 13 games he played.

However, recent reports from the Dallas Morning News indicate that the Cowboys have had internal discussions about the possibility of trading Parsons, a two-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler.

This uncertainty comes on the heels of a disappointing 7-10 season for the Cowboys, which saw them miss the playoffs and lead to the firing of head coach Mike McCarthy.

In contrast to Parsons' situation, the Cowboys have been proactive in extending contracts for other key players, recently signing wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a four-year, $136 million deal and quarterback Dak Prescott to a four-year, $240 million deal in 2024.
