FC Dallas has officially announced the sale of winger Alan Velasco to Boca Juniors, marking the second-largest transfer in the club's history.

The transfer fee is reported to be $10 million, with an additional $2 million in performance-related add-ons and a 15% sell-on clause for FC Dallas.

Despite plans for Velasco to play a central role in the upcoming 2025 season, the opportunity to join Boca Juniors, a club he has long desired to play for, was too enticing to pass up.

During his time with FC Dallas, Velasco played in 62 regular season games, starting 55, and recorded 12 goals and 13 assists.

Originally acquired from Club Atlético Independiente in February 2022 for a club-record fee, Velasco has emerged as one of the top young talents in MLS, topping the league's 22 Under 22 list in 2023.

With Velasco's departure, FC Dallas will now need to focus on finding a suitable replacement as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Velasco made his 2024 season debut on August 31, 2024, after recovering from a significant knee injury sustained during the 2023 playoffs.
