On January 24, 2025, Chicago Fire FC announced the acquisition of midfielder Rominigue Kouamé on loan from Cádiz CF.

The 28-year-old Mali international will occupy an international roster slot for the Fire.

Kouamé's signing is part of a busy winter transfer window for Chicago, which also includes recent additions like Jonathan Bamba, Philip Zinckernagel, and center backs Jack Elliott and Sam Rogers.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Kouamé aims to contribute to the Fire's ambitions of reaching the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2017.

Chicago's director of football and head coach Gregg Berhalter shared his excitement about Kouamé's potential impact on the team's midfield.

Throughout his career, Kouamé has scored 5 goals and provided 9 assists in 214 professional matches, showcasing experience in Ligue 1 and the Belgian top flight.

He has previously played for clubs such as Lille, Troyes, and Cercle Brugge, and has made 11 appearances for the Mali national team, with his last match occurring in 2021.

The loan agreement for Kouamé lasts through the 2025 MLS season and includes a purchase option.

The Fire's season opener under Berhalter is set for February 22, 2025, against the Columbus Crew.
