Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez Faces MRI Amid Ongoing Pitching Staff Injuries
April 18, 2025
Baltimore Orioles pitcher Grayson Rodriguez is set to undergo an MRI on his sore right shoulder after a canceled bullpen session on April 17, 2025.
Rodriguez, who has been rehabbing from right elbow inflammation, made appearances during spring training on February 27 and March 5.
Since July 31, Rodriguez has not pitched in a regular-season game due to ongoing injury issues.
Braddish is recovering from Tommy John surgery, while Wells is dealing with UCL repair surgery, both starting the season on the injured list.
In addition to Rodriguez, the pitching staff has been further affected by injuries to Albert Suárez, who has not pitched since March 28 due to a right shoulder issue, and Zach Eflin, sidelined since April 7 with a right lat injury.
Rodriguez, at 25 years old, was the 11th overall pick in the 2018 amateur draft and has a career record of 20-8 with a 4.11 ERA across 43 major league starts.
Hyde also indicated that the team is gathering information and awaiting additional opinions from doctors, with updates expected later this week.
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde reported that Rodriguez experienced shoulder soreness a few days prior to the MRI, highlighting the need for imaging to evaluate the injury.
The Orioles are grappling with multiple injuries to their starting pitching staff, including Kyle Braddish and Tyler Wells, both of whom are on the injured list due to significant surgeries.
