Etihad Rail has unveiled a groundbreaking high-speed train line that will connect Dubai and Abu Dhabi, drastically reducing travel time to just 30 minutes at speeds reaching 350 km/h.

This ambitious project aims to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors while strengthening socioeconomic ties between the two emirates.

Significant progress has been made, including the issuance of tenders for contracts and the approval of network designs, paving the way for further development phases.

H.H. Sheikh Khaled emphasized that the project aligns with the UAE leadership's vision to advance national infrastructure and elevate mobility services.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the initiative as a commitment to connecting emirates through advanced transportation, aiming to set new global standards.

The high-speed train initiative also supports the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategy by integrating advanced technologies and sustainability practices into the transport infrastructure.

This project is projected to contribute AED145 billion ($39.5 billion) to the UAE's GDP over the next 50 years, significantly boosting tourism and economic growth.

Four new passenger rail stations will be established in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah, creating a comprehensive transport network that integrates with existing metro and bus lines.

Future expansions are planned to connect additional stations in Sharjah and Fujairah, with aspirations to link to the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway network.

The train will serve six key stations, including Reem Island, Saadiyat, Yas Island, Zayed International Airport, Al Maktoum International Airport, and Al Jaddaf in Dubai.

Ultimately, the high-speed train is expected to improve the quality of life for citizens and visitors, strengthen socioeconomic ties, and unlock new investment opportunities in logistics and tourism.
