St. Andrews Introduces Digital Tee Time System, Boosts American Success Rate to 45%
April 18, 2025
This innovative system allows golfers to enter their names the day before between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Old Course Pavilion, requiring a photograph for confirmation.
Since its launch, over 3,600 visiting golfers have successfully secured tee times through this streamlined process.
Importantly, golfers who are not selected still have access to other St. Andrews courses, ensuring that options remain available.
In April 2024, St. Andrews Links Trust launched a new digital tee time system, replacing the traditional overnight singles queue.
The random drawing for tee times takes place the same evening, enabling participants to plan their day without the hassle of overnight camping.
Overall success rates for this new system hover around 25%, with an average of 12 to 20 entrants selected daily.
Notably, nearly half of the entries, totaling 6,592, came from the United States, where American golfers enjoyed a higher success rate of about 45%.
The system's popularity is evident, with the most popular day in 2024 recording 227 entries.
