Streamsong Resort to Debut New Golf Course by Architect David McLay Kidd by 2026
January 22, 2025Streamsong Resort in Florida is set to unveil a new golf course designed by renowned architect David McLay Kidd, making it the only resort globally with courses crafted by the four leading figures in modern golf design: Coore/Crenshaw, Tom Doak, Gil Hanse/Jim Wagner, and Kidd himself.
Although a specific completion date for the new course has not been confirmed, Kidd aims for it to be ready for play by fall 2026, intending for it to complement the existing courses while establishing its own unique identity.
The new layout will stretch over 7,300 yards from the back tees, skillfully incorporating the natural terrain, which features dramatic dunes and ridges, while also addressing the challenges presented by protected wetlands.
Streamsong has a rich history of golf course development, with the Black course by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner opening in 2017, followed by a 19-hole short course called The Chain, designed by Coore/Crenshaw, which debuted in 2023.
As part of the construction plan, an underused pitch-and-putt practice facility will be modified to accommodate the opening holes of the new course.
After years of aspiration, Kidd is thrilled to finally have the opportunity to design a course at Streamsong, joining his esteemed peers in this distinctive environment.
Kidd is dedicated to enhancing the site’s natural features, emphasizing that he will undertake significant earth movements if necessary to create a well-defined golfing experience.
In 2023, the mining company that previously owned Streamsong sold the property to Lone Windmill LLC, which is making the new course its first major investment in the resort.
David McLay Kidd, who is well-known for designing Bandon Dunes, expressed his admiration for Streamsong's existing courses, Blue and Red, designed by Tom Doak and Coore/Crenshaw, during their grand openings in 2012.
While the new course has yet to be named, it will be situated between the existing Red and Black courses and will share a clubhouse with the Black course.
