The 2023 PGA Tour University season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive races for a PGA Tour card in history.

A number of players are vying for the top position in the PGA Tour University Class of 2025 standings, which will ultimately decide who secures a PGA Tour card following the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship.

Among the frontrunners are Brendan Valdes, David Ford, and Josele Ballester, who recently played their first round together at the Williams Cup, intensifying the pressure as they pursue their professional careers.

Also competing in the Williams Cup are Preston Summerhays, ranked No. 4, and Sebastian Moss, ranked No. 8, along with Ian Gilligan, who is ranked No. 11 and recently made the cut at the PGA Tour's Shriners Children’s Open.

The Williams Cup, taking place at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, North Carolina, is currently featuring top collegiate golf teams, including those with the leading players in the PGA Tour University standings.

With just seven months remaining until the PGA Tour card is awarded, every competition and performance is critical for players aiming for automatic qualification.

In 2023, Ludvig Aberg made history as the first college player to earn a PGA Tour card through PGA Tour University, while Michael Thorbjornsen navigated a challenging path to his card despite facing an injury last year.
